My tank is a Zoo Med from the pet store with a slide on lid. The cover was too small to fit over the existing frame. And the measurements are a bit short from what was advertised. So I decided to remove the top frame with a spackling knife and elbow grease. The frame was plastic covered foam, so was not too difficult to remove, but did take some time, chipping away. Once it was removed, i cleaned the tank and gave myself a nasty cut on the glass, so my advice is to tape the edges first. After it was clean, i taped the sharp edges with electrical tape then set the new top on. It was just a bit too wide in the back, but sat flush. Now with no frame to put locking clips on, I taped it down with more electrical tape on the sides and front. The snake will be very secure, because i couldn’t lift it with gentle tugging. And if i need to remove the whole top for any reason i can easily re-tape it. It actually looks great and am quite relieved that i didn’t have to return the top. There really is none with the right dimentions anyway. As for Quality, it did seem a little bit wobbly before i put it on, but not too bad once it was on. My overweight cat is the next test. He is the reason I’m in this mess to begin with.

The price was fair but the item arrived a bit bent- it doesn’t sit quite flush with my tank. I bought it to keep my younger kids hands out of the hamsters tank and to stop any escape attempts (it’s a cute natural set up and they kept moving his flowers and things lol) and it definitely works for that once I secured it to the tank a bit better. The little door and it’s cute nob are great for restricting access and encouraging them not to touch without asking and so far a one Mr.Hams E. Benedict, has not launched a successful escape plan…..

I bought this for a 10 gal fish tank 02/28/24 to keep my fish from “jumping” outside the tank. I love how it just slips on perfect fit. People need to realize its not clipped on it just sits on top of the tank. I bought for this reason and I love it. I had to modify it so it it will hold my LED plant lamp and air hoses. I do suggest you put some rubber edges underneath the metal frame if you don’t have a plastic top on your tank so it won’t scrape or scratch your acrylic. Now For the true test “rust proof” I will report back if it holds up to being in contact with water all the time.

This fit our 20 gallon long aquarium perfectly and we liked that it even had little notches cut out for tubes and cords that are attached to the bubbler, filter, and thermometer in the tank. The little door is convenient for feeding without having to remove the entire lid.

We started using a 20 gallon aquarium for our hamster after she kept chewing on her wire cage. She chewed through the first (thin wire) lid we had on it and got out. This lid being a much thicker mesh, we haven’t had that problem. Hamster problem solved!
